Sydney’s Western Harbour Precinct (now commonly known as “The Waterfront”) has been a meeting place of people, commerce and culture for generations and a place of congregation for First Nations Australians for millennia. The Precinct exists in a diverse and continually changing part of Sydney that still maintains a rich history of making a life by the water; a place of fishing and feasting; a place of firsts in ingenious, design and innovation; a place of diverse culture riding waves of change and transformation.
The Waterfront is a thriving mosaic of 7km+ of prime waterfront foreshore, moving from the rich history of Walsh Bay to the quiet, contemplative open space at Baranagroo Reserve to the playful and joyful exuberance of the Darling Harbour Playground ending at Blackwattle Bay’s popular fish market.

Ferry
Ferries run regularly from Circular Quay, Milsons Point, McMahons Point and Balmain to Darling Harbour. Hop off at Sydney Aquarium and take a five minute stroll north along the water.
Trains
The Waterfront is a short walk from Wynyard Station. If travelling from Wynyard, you can traipse from Clarence Street along the Wynyard Walk, a new state-of-the-art, fully accessible underground pedestrian link through the city. Emerge at Barangaroo and enjoy a walk along the water to King Street Wharf.
Lightrail
The L1 West Light Rail travels between Central Station in the CBD and Dulwich Hill in the Inner West and has a number of stops within a 5 minute walk to key Waterfront locations. These stops include: Paddy’s Market, Exhibition, Convention and Pyrmont Bay.
The Waterfront is also accessible from the L2 line at Town Hall, via a short 11-minute walk from Sussex Street.
Bus
A range of buses serve The Waterfront Precincts, including routes 252, 254, 261, 288, 290 292, 324, 325 and 998. To find the right bus service for you, we recommend using Trip Planner by Transport NSW
